What's a Halfass Bag (or Hafa Bag) ??
"Where did you get that bag? I GOTTA have one!"
Helen, the food & bev manager (and a darling woman!) at the VFW in Port Deposit exclaimed. Helen had spotted my Halfass Bag on the bar.
"I made it, and I'll make you one if you like!" I told her. So I did!

The Halfass Bag began as a lightbulb moment (see "How did this happen?" below) and a desire for the perfect-size bag that is lightweight and designed the way I wanted it to be.
This is a washable and durable way to re-purpose the old jeans you just can't part with!

My beautiful Mom, Millee Bush, was a talented crafter and designer. Most all of the fancifuls and frou-frous are from the treasures she gave me.
That's a big part of what makes each bag so special.
The Halfass Logo
"What are you doing now?" Gordon asked me when we got home.
"I gotta make a logo or something to embroider on each bag," I told him. Santa brought me a new embroidery sewing machine, this would be a great way to use it!
I spent the next three days creating the design and applying for a trademark.
Every bag is embroidered with the logo, owner's first name, & is numbered.
"Not everyone wants an "ass" on their bag!" someone told me,
and I get it!

About The Halfass Bag (or Hafa Bag) - How did this happen?
I decided to create a denim quilt to protect the back of my sofa. We have two sheddy dogs that we love to spoil and yes, we let them on the couch!
To prepare the squares for the denim quilt, I cut the legs off of the jeans and threw the trunk of the jeans on the floor. As I looked down,
I thought 'I bet that would make a cute purse!'
Gordon watched me chop up the top of the jeans & asked, "What are you doing now?"
"I'm making a bag!" I told him, "out of half your ass!" I laughed.
"So it's a halfass bag?" he joked.
"Yup, and that's a great name: the Halfass Bag! I'm going to use that and not give you any credit for it, HA!"
We laughed our asses off!
I sewed the side seam, added some lace on the bottom seam, added some fancifuls and frou-frou, made cute handles from some old trim and BA-BAM! The first "Halfass Bag" was born, January 6, 2026!
I now had a purse that laid flat against my side, is light and easy to carry, and has three ready-made pockets for my phone and lipstick.
